Acts 2:22-28
Jesus - the centerpoint of christian faith
In this passage, Peter continues his sermon on the day of pentecost. He continues by focussing on Jesus.
Jesus was a man
Peter was a witness that Jesus was fully human. He knew Jesus was from a small town, that He worked as a carpenter. That He grew up and began a ministry.
But Peter had also seen other things. He saw that Jesus had no sin, that He had performed miracles which proved His power from that of God's power - even power over the dead.
Most of Peter's audience would have heard, and some would have even been there for some of these things, but they did not know Jesus' greatest accomplishment yet.
He could not stay dead
Peter here boldly proclaims that Jesus rose from the dead. He shares the good news that because of that - because of God's plan - our sins have been paid for. What does that mean?
We cannot stay dead
Those who beleive and accept the forgiveness will also rise. We will rise to a heavenly live with Jesus when comes again. Death is not something to fear. It is something to celebrate.
